How do I change the key of a song?
Upload the song, pick how many semitones to move it and process. One semitone is one half step, so +2 lifts the song a whole tone, and +12 or -12 moves it a full octave.
How many semitones do I need?
Count the half steps between the two keys: C to D is 2 semitones up, C to A is 3 down, and C to G is 7 up (or 5 down, which usually sits better). If you are matching your voice rather than a key, try one or two semitones at a time until it feels easy to sing.
Does changing the key change the speed?
No. Only the key moves — the track comes back the same length and at the same tempo, so it still fits a rehearsal, a click track or a video edit.
Will the vocals still sound natural?
Yes. This page transposes with the voices and the instruments held to their own character, so the singer sounds like the singer a few semitones lower or higher — not like a chipmunk.
Can I change the key of a backing track for a choir or a band?
